Help - Print Types

Help Contents

This summarises the different types of prints we offer. The types are listed in order from poster quality printing, to very high quality stretched canvas framed prints. We also have a visual guide to sizes.

Poster

Poster printing is suited to posters and line art, or other printing where a matte finish is desired. Posters are currently our most economical print type, and are useful for displaying large images inexpensively. If waterproof prints or images with deeper colours are required, dedicated photo printing is recommended. The cost is kept low by a lightweight 130 gsm paper, HP Heavyweight Coated.

Self-Adhesive Poster

Self-adhesive Poster printing is suited to posters for display either indoors or outdoors. The printing material that we use (Xativa Self-adhesive Polypropylene) gives a smooth matte finish with excellent surface whiteness and can be attached to most surfaces. As we utilise pigment inks, the print is both waterproof and fade-resistant.

Photo

Photo prints similar to those possible with film photography, but improved by the use of a heavier paper and pigment inks, are possible with our Photo print type. Both satin (matte) and gloss finishes are available, with both offering well-saturated colours and waterproof prints compared to Poster prints. Our current paper for both satin and gloss finish is HP Everyday Pigment Photo, a 235 gsm paper.

Premium Photo

Our Premium Photo prints use a higher-quality paper than our Photo prints, to give more saturated colours, a tougher surface and a slightly heavier print, as well as less gloss differential. Our current premium photo paper is HP Premium Instant Dry, available in both satin and gloss finish.

Fine Art

Fine art printing is suited to high quality photographic sources, especially black and white images. We currently offer Hahnemühle Photo Rag 308 as our fine art paper. Fine art paper offers excellent archival characteristics, as well as imparting a slight texture to the print.

Artist Canvas

Canvas is the ideal medium for large-format prints, with a durable, textured finish. Our canvas prints are stretched over a wooden frame and are delivered "ready to hang". Due to being stretched over the frame, a border of approximately 5-10% of the image at each edge overflows onto the sides and back of the frame. Please bear this in mind when ordering, as objects near the edge of the frame may not appear on the display surface. Our current canvas is Chromata White 450 gsm, a cotton rag/polymer blend with exceptional whiteness and archival qualities.
